The Obiter is thrilled to report that the UQ Student Newspaper Semper Floreat has published an article for just the second time this year.
The publication, which published some of David Malouf’s earliest work and was bugged by the Bjelke-Peterson government, generally only posts one article per semester. However, the expulsion hearing of Drew Pavlou proved too delectable to resist a second bite.
While most students have been grateful for the long-heralded return of Semper, some ingrates (probably virgins) have suggested that the paper could perhaps eke out a few more articles every so often.
According to Wikipedia (I wonder who edited that page), the illustrious student newspaper has just ten editors. Ten! How would anyone get an article done with just ten editors? We here at The Obiter leant on a team of 230 writers just getting this article written.
Not only that, but with some disease shutting down uni or whatever, there hasn’t really been anything for Semper to report on, y’know?
If there was a chatty grandson of Greek immigrants making waves in world media for opposing the Uni administration or a veritable smorgasboard of student issues surrounding the pandemic to report on, then maybe Semper would have published an article in the last couple of months. Or if it was like, their job or something. But there’s not a lot going on right now, been pretty quiet actually. Reports say the Semper editors have really been enjoying The Last Dance though! F*^& Jerry Krause!
More to come once we hire six more writers on full-time salaries – we’re burnt out!
